Biography: Lewis Koumas is an English footballer, closely watched for his emerging talent. As the son of former Wales international footballer Jason Koumas, Koumas is expected to continue his father's legacy.
He joined the Liverpool academy at a young age, recently signed his first professional contract, and has also begun his international career with the Wales youth teams. Known for his versatility, Koumas is capable of playing as a forward or winger, and has also taken the role of a striker for Liverpool's U18 team.
Koumas was born near the Welsh border in Chester, England, and began his football career at Tranmere Rovers' academy. He moved to the Liverpool academy at the age of 11 in 2016. After developing his skills, he signed a professional contract with Liverpool in January 2023.
On 14 December 2023, Koumas was an unused substitute in a Liverpool senior squad's Europa League match and subsequently won the EFL Cup with the team in the 2023–24 season, again as an unused substitute. He scored his first senior goal in 2024 against Southampton in the FA Cup.
Internationally, Koumas is eligible to play for England, Wales, and Cyprus. He chose to represent Wales at the youth level and made his debut for the Wales U19 team in 2023. He also scored in a match against Sweden in June of the same year.
