American Idol‘s Kenedi Anderson to Embark on Mission Trip
“I’ve chosen to serve a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,” Anderson wrote in a recent Instagram post. “Dedicating 18 months of my life to serve my Lord and Savior is the least I can do after all God has blessed me with.”
Anderson went on to clarify that she is not quitting music, adding, “I am taking a break to focus on what God has called me to do, but I will be back before you know it! And you better believe that I’ll be working harder than ever to put music out for y’all!!”
The 20-year-old also posted a video of herself on social media reading her mission call and finding out she would be traveling to Hawaii. She became emotional after reading the assigned destination.

Anderson Earned a Platinum Ticket in Season 20
In Season 20 of American Idol, Anderson auditioned with a piano cover of “Applause” by Lady Gaga. She earned a Platinum Ticket from the judges, which allowed her to skip the first round of Hollywood Week. Anderson was later chosen to be part of the Top 24.
However, after performing “Human” by Christina Perri in Hawaii, Anderson chose to leave the competition for “personal reasons.” She called it “one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make.” She later moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career.
Earlier this year, Anderson released a song called “Nothing Hurts,” under the name Kenedi. It sounds like fans will have to wait a little longer to hear her next release.
