Alexandra Brumley is a photographer with a special focus on cosplay. She loves costumes, the actors who don costumes, and placing them in their magical world with her camera:

Exsploring Birkens forests this past year was absolutely amazing and I cant wait to go back to @mountaincosplayretreat!

She covers comic book characters, video games, anime, Disney, Star Wars, and even characters from fairytales. Also Taylor Swift.

Witch #Mercy has to be one of my favorite skins, besides the valkyrie skin. So when @_jessicacross said she was bringing hers to Edmonton Expo I had to snag a shot! Photographer: Alexandra Brumley Model: Jessica Cross Cosplay Con: #EdmontonExpo2017

One thing I love to do with some of my photos is making the background a similar color to something on the model. In this case I turned the bokeh'd trees gold to bring out more of the gold in the cosplay. This is something to consider when you're messing around in your editing software.

Brumley has managed to touch on just about every fantasy theme in her work, but she recently announced a new project that's much more personal.

On Twitter she shared photos of her grandmother on her birthday, dressing up for her first experience doing cosplay and looking fan-freaking-tastic.

She writes, "Today is my Grandma's birthday & with that the first day of my personal project. This project is to create fantasy portraits of my loved ones starting with my Grandma. This was her very first photo shoot, thanks to patreon. You can see the full set here."

Brumley wrote on Instagram that she assembled her grandmother's costume from old pieces she's made, and is calling her character "Snow Queen Mother."

So today is my Grandma's birthday and this past weekend I dressed her in my cloak and crown that I originally I made for my Elrking shoot, and decided to make her a Snow Queen Mother. This is also a start of a new personal project I will be working on for the next year or so. I intend to create portraits of people who're close to me but bringing them into my world of fantasy. So I can't wait to bring you guys along on this creative journey. #fantasy #queen #snowqueen #fantasyphotography

In another posts she added that her grandmother suffered a stroke, and lives with Brumley's parents.

Winter amongst the family is a bit quiet and sad, as it's a time marked by the memory of loss.

Brumley says that she realized she didn't have as many picture of loved ones as she wishes she did, including her grandfather, so including family members in her fantasy world is an important connection for her to make.

To start this project off this is my Grandma, my mother's Mom. She suffered a stroke last year and has been living with my parents and I off and on. The winter time has always been a somber time around my house hold, because it's the anniversary of loved ones passing. One of them being my Grandfather who I only have a few photos of and is one of the reasons why I started this projects. #fantasy #queen #fantasyphotographyshoot #fantasyphotography #snowqueen

Though Brumley's grandmother looks very serious and majestic in her photo, Brumley still has a playful view of her real connection to her:

Holy shit she looks like the wise goddess of winter, pointing me towards my destination, warning me of the perils but ultimately saying she believes in me and my strength....

— Molls (@mollsissobored) January 23, 2018

YES^ But she'll also give you a coconut Ferrero Rocher before your journey.

Brumley has a relatively small following on Twitter, but her pictures of her grandmother have been retweeted over ten thousand times. They're just that good.

This is unreal! So beautiful and inspiring. Your grandma exudes beauty and power, I want to write an epic fantasy novel about her this is amazing 😭💕

— Hannah (@hihello_hannah) January 23, 2018

She is POWER

— Hoosier (@HoosierFooDog) January 23, 2018

She feels like a wise, kind but firm queen, sending me on a quest. I’d fight for this woman’s kingdom 😭

— ✨Ari✨Moon fairy✨ (@manifestedreams) January 23, 2018

And Brumley's grandmother loves them too:

Yes! She loved them so much she wants a 20x30 print of one to hang over the fireplace, haha! :D Also thank you!

Can't wait until the whole family gets their shoot!
